© Euro-Fuchsia (2011) Fuchsias They originally come from Central and South America, New Zealand and Tahiti, today one can find them particularly in the gardens and parks of Europe, Northern America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. From the currently known 107 species of the genus Fuchsia gardener diligence, the coincidence and also the nature itself created an incalculable variety of hybrids. From 'Abt Koloman Holzinger' to 'Zyzy', from simple to doubled blossoms, from upright to hanging growth, from winter-hard to cold-sensitive plants, from white to almost black (or aubergine) blossoms - there is everything, but yellow. Currently about 12.000 to 15.000 different hybrids might be found on the world. For example: the fuchsia nurseries in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Switzerland and Austria offer about 6.000 different hybrids. This enormous variety defines one of the reasons of the great charm  of the fuchsia.
